Aims and Scope
The purpose of these series of lectures on Complex
Fluids is to bring together
applied mathematicians and experts from other fields of science working in the
theoretical analysis, numerical simulation and modeling of complex fluids or
micro-macro models. Special focus will be given to liquid crystal and diffuse interface
phase-field models.
The following topics will be addressed:
modeling questions (e.g. correlations between different models, constitutive relations, mixture of fluids, solidification, dissipative systems, etc.),
numerical questions (appropriated discretization schemes, discrete maximum principles, mixed formulations versus C^1 finite elements, discrete energy balances, etc.),
theoretical questions (e.g. well posedness and regularity of models, asymptotic behaviour at infinite time, singularity of static equilibrium states, etc.) are expected to be addressed.
