I am an Associate Professor at the Department of Developmental and Educational Psychology of the University of Seville in Spain. My main interests are in the field of developmental disorders and special educational needs. I am specifically interested in Autism Spectrum Disorders and in reading and oral comprehension.

Reading comprehension in persons with Autism Spectrum Disorders

2008-2010 - Ministry of Science and Education (Spain) National R+D Programme

We shall be looking at different processes involved in discourse comprehension, in particular predictive inferences, inferences during situation model construction and comprehension monitoring.

Difficulties in reading comprehension in persons with Deafness

2008-2011 -  Office for Research, Technology and Enterprise of Andalusia - Programme for Projects of Excellence in Research

Groups of persons with deafness, both with proficiency in Spanish Sign Language and with proficiency in oral Spanish, will be compared on discourse processes with poor comprehenders and typically developing persons.

Reading comprehension in Moroccan immigrant children in Spain

2004-2008 -  Ministry of Science and Education (Spain) National R+D Programme

Variables affecting the reading comprehension of Moroccan children are the main object of this study. Reading and oral abilities in Arabic and Moroccan, as well as contextual factors at school and the family are considered. We are currently analyzing the data obtained in this study.
