Main research lines and projects

Entrepreneurial intention and factors affecting it

Intention models constitute an adequate starting point to analyse the factors determining the decision to become an entrepreneur. Similarly, they also help in the analysis of the development of dynamic behaviours once the firm is in operation. Within this line of research, the following projects may be pointed out:

·         Cultural Values and Socioeconomic elements as determinants of the entrepreneurial intention. Proyecto de Investigación de Excelencia (P08-SEJ-03542). Financed by Consejería de Innovación, Ciencia y Empresa, Junta de Andalucía. 2009-2011. Main researcher: F. Liñán.

·         Construction and validation of an Entrepreneurial Intention Questionnaire. Financed by University of Seville. Since 2004.

·         Studying Entrepreneurial Intentions among students in different countries. International project to develop an instrument to measure entrepreneurial intentions and testing it internationally. Head researchers: Lars Kolvereid and Norris Krueger.

Entrepreneurial Education

Nowadays, entrepreneurial education constitutes a highly relevant instrument to try to favour the appareance of more and better entrepreners. nder this line I wrote my PhD dissertaton and the following projects may be pointed out:

·         ENDEAVOUR. Entrepreneurial Development as a vehicle to promote European Higher Education. Financed by the ERASMUS MUNDUS programme, European Commission. Entrepreneurship Development Centre for the Inner Campania Region (CE.S.I.A.I.C), Universidad de Sannio (Italia). Main researcher at University of Seville: F. Liñán.

·         Entrepreneurial education in Andalusia: diagnosis and desing of a training project. Financed by the Andalusian Research Plan, from Junta de Andalucía. 2004-2006.

·         The role of Andalusian universities in entrepreneurial promotion. Financed by the Andalusian Research Plan, from Junta de Andalucía. 2002-2004.

Entrepreneurship and quality of the entrepreneur

The essence of this research line resides in the analysis of entrepreneurs, the factors influencing theirperformance, and the level of quality or dynamism with which their entrepreneurial functions are developed. Within this line of research, the following projects may be pointed out:

·         Analysis of the female entrepreneurial potential in Western Andalusia. Financed by the Andalusian Research Plan, from Junta de Andalucía. 2002.

·         Employment niches: R+D programme on entrepreneurship and production opportunities in Huelva. Financed by Huelva City Council. 1999-2000.

Quality of the entrepreneurial tissue

Characteristics of entrepreneurs have an influence -together with other factors- in the quality of the local/regional entrepreneurial tissue. That is, in its capacity to create wealth, employment and innovations within its own territory. Developing indicators to measure this entrepreneurial-tissue quality level is one of the main objectives. Within this line of research, the following projects may be pointed out:

·         Entrepreneurial reality and economic development in the province of Seville. Financed by the Andalusian Council for Labour Relations, Junta de Andalucía. 2002-2003.

·         Doctoral Dissertation supervision: Doctoral Student: Mª Pilar Tejada: El Papel de las PYMES Andaluzas en las Cadenas de Valor Global del Turismo (The Role of Andalusian SMEs in the Global Tourism Value Chains), 2007, Dept Economia Aplicada I, University of Seville.
