Welcome to my personal web page. I am an Associate Professor at the University of Seville (Spain). In addition, I give or have given in the past various courses and seminars at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (USA), University of Groningen (Netherlands), Complutense University of Madrid or the International University of Andalusia, among other institutions. I am a member of the European Union Regional Economic Applications Laboratory (REAL-EU), the European Union Network for Input-Output Studies (EUNIOS), the research group "SMEs and economic development" and the Bancaja Chair for Young Entrepreneurs at the University of Seville. On this page you can find further information about my academic and professional activities.
I have been developing my research activity as a member of the University of Seville research group “Small and Medium-sized Enterprises and Regional Development”. Furthermore, I am a member of the European Union Network for Input Output Studies (EUNIOS) and the European Union Regional Economics Applications Laboratory (EU-REAL).
I have been a research visitor in the Organization and Management Research School (SOM) at the University of Groningen (The Netherlands) (2005) and in the Regional Economics Applications Laboratory (REAL) at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (USA) (2007).
Specifically, my research interests include:
- The role of SMEs in economic development.
- Industrial clusters and local systems of enterprises.
- Production chains in an input-output framework.
- The role of SMEs in Global Value Chains (GVC).
- Entrepreneurship policy.
