Nonprofits & Technology. Emerging Research for Usable Knowledge.

Resumen:
The book Nonprofits and Technology is a collection of ten empirical research papers that were presented and debated in a symposium on technology adoption in the Third Sector. The workshop took place in the Institute for Nonprofit Organization Management at the University of San Francisco in 2004 and gathered a group of scholars and practitioners from the United States and Canada. The book responds to the need of empirical research on this issue, as far as previous studies have focused on the adoption of new information and communication technology in profit organizations.

“(…) this book provides some pioneering empirical research on technology adoption in the Third Sector, establishing at the same time insightful connections between research and practice. In part these studies are still simple and descriptive, but they serve to give the first steps to extract the full potential of new IT to deal with community needs.”
