On October 6 is going to be held a Foresight Workshop at IDC Milan for debating on the project “The potential of ICT for the promotion of cultural diversity in the EU”. This study is carried on for the European Commission Directorate General “Information Society and Media” (eInclusion), providing a comparative analysis between Germany, Italy, United Kingdom and Spain.
The comparative research examines the use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) by Immigrant and Ethnic Minorities (IEM), analysing how this can contribute to social inclusion and integration.
We participate in the Workshop debating on future trends and scenarios. The Spain’s case study has been developed by the Laboratorio de Redes Personales y Comunidades, providing:
- An analysis of the supply and demand of ICT for and by IEM in Spain.
- A description of the role of articulation of local immigrant communities played by locutorios (Internet Shops), through the case of Ecuadorians in Almería.
- An illustration of the interaction in online recent immigrant’s communities, with Romanian and Bulgarians in Catalonia.
- An exploration into the personal differences in the appropriation of ICT by immigrants.
