Innovation and Creativity in Education in the EU

31 Julio, 2011 por Isidro Maya Jariego

By the end of 2010 the Institute For Prospective Technological Studies published the Final Report on the Study on Creativity and Innovation in Education in EU Member States. The LRPC participated in this project in the analysis of the survey data.

The study examines the practices promoting creativity and innovation in compulsory schooling in Europe, and it is compound by “a literature review, a survey with teachers, an analysis of curricula and of good practices, stakeholder and expert interviews, and experts workshops”.

The online survey was designed to “assess teachers’ opinions and practices on creativity and innovation” in each European country at school level: finally, 12,893 teachers from 32 countries responded to the questionnaire. María José Jurado and myself provided statistical assistance with the survey data.

We also participated in the “Validation Workshop on Innovation and Creativity in Education and Training in the European Union Member States” (1-2 June, 2010).

Intermediate reports on the differente phases of the study are available in the project website. The online copy of the final report is available below. Part of the survey has contributed to the eEspaña 2011 report. A complementary book on measuring creativity is also available:
