Awards and honors.

  • 2010: In September 2010 he was awarded the N.A. Khizhnyak Award by the TPC of the 2010 Mathematical Methods in Electromagnetic Theory Symposium (Kiev, Uhraine) for his controbutions to Electromagentic theory.

  • 2010: The 18th of June (anniversary of the foundation of Puerto Real town), 2010, he proudly and with great emotion received the honorific title of ``Hijo Predilecto de la Villa de Puerto Real'' (``Favourite Son of Puerto Real"). He is indebted to the citizens, town councilors and mayor of the town of Puerto Real for their (maybe undeserved) recognition to the trajectory of a son of such a lovely town.

  • 2010:   Since January 2010 he is an IEEE FELLOW (nominated within the Microwaves Theory and Techniques Society). His citation is
    ``for contributions to the analysis and physical understanding of planar structures, anisotropic media, and metamaterials,''.

  • 1988: "Premio Ciudad de Sevilla" (to the best Ph.D. Dissertation in Scientific and Technical areas, University of Seville, Spain 1988).

  • 1985: "Premio Rogelio Segovia Torres" (IEEE Spanish Section, best research work by a Ph.D. student) to the work entitled "Estudio de estructuras multiconductoras y multicapa de configuración planar útiles en la tecnología integrada de microondas" ("Study of multilayer and multiconductor planar structures useful for microwave integrated technology".

  • 1983: "Premio Extraordinario de Licenciatura"(University of Seville, 1983) (official recognition as the top student in Physics, 1977-1982).

  • 1983: "Premio Real Maestranza de Caballería" (Maestranza de Caballería, Sevilla) (to the best student in Physics, 1977-1982).

  • 1983: "Premio del Excmo. Ayuntamiento de Sevilla" (to the best student in Physics with Master Thesis, 1983).

  • 1983: "Premio Compañía Sevillana de Electricidad" (to the best student in Physics, 1977-1982).
